How this beta handles data.
BuildTheory is an early-stage product. Use synthetic or appropriately authorized, minimized documents. Do not submit confidential or sensitive personal information before confirming the deployment’s handling arrangements.
Information processed
The workspace processes uploaded PDFs, policy inception dates, extracted case facts, summaries and questions. It uses a session cookie for access ownership and beta authorization. There is no individual account system. Early-access requests, when enabled, collect the fields shown in the form and your consent.
External processing
Live analysis and document chat send original documents, extracted facts, questions and recent conversation context to the model provider configured by the operator: Anthropic or Google. Optional OCR sends rendered document pages to Google Cloud Vision. Those services have their own terms and data handling policies. The synthetic replay does not call a model provider. Source-page previews are rendered on the backend; highlights locate matching PDF text. Conversation history is held in the current browser view and is not stored as a separate chat record.
Storage and deletion
Case PDFs and outputs are stored on the backend filesystem and in its case database. The configured case lifetime is shown in the workspace. Expired completed cases are removed on subsequent case requests; this is not a guaranteed deletion deadline. You can delete a completed case from its workspace. Temporary files may remain after an interrupted job until operator cleanup. Free hosting may erase files on restart.
Early-access requests are saved only when collection is enabled. They are retained until removed by the operator. Infrastructure backups, if configured, may retain copies beyond deletion from the active system. Clearing your session cookie loses access to its cases.
Logs and analytics
The application logs operational failure types rather than document contents. Hosting providers may record IP addresses and request metadata. Rate limiting uses network addresses. Optional analytics emits named interface events only; no tracker or analytics destination is enabled by default.
Your choices
You can use the synthetic replay without uploading documents, delete completed cases, and choose whether to submit an early-access request. A contact address is shown only when the operator enables one.
